Something about actually going all out and testing yourself that does the job of revealing your strengths and weaknesses.
I love it.
Have you ever played Monopoly?
If you said no to that question, you’re likely a liar. Or, you’re like me and simply weren’t exposed to the game. It must be either one of the 2.
With that being said, we played monopoly in one of my classes today and it was amazing. It was something I could compete in. I just wanted to win.
What playing the game also showed me was what I was lacking in strategy-wise. I didn’t set an objective before I started playing the game.
Obviously, if you have no objective and just have a bunch of money(relatively) then you’re going to start F-ing up. That’s what I did.
I just started putting money on every property, regardless of the colour. While this worked periodically, the law of large numbers kicked in eventually.
After enough moves without having a detailed plan. I started to mess up. I lost money and eventually went bankrupt. It was bad.
It did show me what I was lacking in. I need a to zero in on both my offensive and defensive strategy. Rather than simply buying, I need to buy with a purpose. You can’t have everything.
Therefore you need to make sure you have things that allow for an adequate level of control over a specific market.
I just made that up as I was typing without thinking. Awesome right?
