How to use your “extra”time wisely

How to use your “extra”time wisely

Intro

Our lives are usually very busy with all of the things that we must get done throughout the day. We don’t have a lot of time to use to do what we want. Or do we? You know that extra hour that you have for lunch, you can use that to do whatever you want. You know that 3-hour gap that you have between classes. You can also use that to do something besides listening to music and sleeping. How about those 2 days that you have over the weekend. That’s another 48 hours that you have to build, create, plan, and learn.

Here are a few things that you can do with your time;

Start a side-business

When we aren’t doing things that pertain to work, school, family etc. arnel-hasanovic-375269-unsplashWe can spend our time bringing in a secondary source of income. There are various ways of bringing in streams of income that we can take advantage of during our little bits of free-time. Business such as Blogs discussing things that you are passionate about, e-commerce stores, even a side landscaping business (if your time allows it) are possible to run in your free-time. For those whose lives are on the more hectic side, it will be a bit easier to spend time doing things that will fit in such as freelance work, catering, tutoring etc. *side note: All of these things are scalable if you are creative enough.

Plan out your next day

Nothing gets one ahead of the curve like planning out your day ahead of time. In those last few hours of the day when we usually want to do nothing but sleep or socialize, we can sit down and figure out what it is that we must do the next day. Doing so frees up more time during the next day and rids us of some of the confusion that comes along with day to day activity. This is especially important for those who are guiding themselves (entrepreneurs).

Do one of your “if only” tasks

You know that thing that you said that you would do when you had the time to do it. Well, now you have the time. Whether it’s cleaning out the gutters, taking your car to the shop, or for some, doing some laundry. When we free up time, we no longer have an excuse to not do these tasks. All that we must do is do them.

Read something, anything

Books are beneficial because of the wealth of knowledge that can be found in some of them. If you have a spare 30 minutes, or even 20 picking up and reading a book, is always something to do with your free-time. Doing so makes sure that you are learning and challenging your own way of thinking constantly. It can also dmitry-ratushny-67024-unsplashhelp you accomplish a certain new years resolution that you set for yourself.

Learn a new skill

For those with more than the average amount of free-time, it’s always a good idea to learn a new skill. This can be done by picking up a few classes at a nearby school or going online to learn from the plethora of teachers that are present on that medium (when doing this just make sure that whoever you are learning from knows what it is that they are talking about, most don’t.)

Conclusion

Life is too short to spend our time doing things that hold no benefit for us. There are various things that we can do instead of sitting down and watching television all day. Remember those things that you said that you would do if your time permitted? Now you have the time. Have you ever wanted to learn a new language or read a certain book? Now you have the time to go do that. An extra 30 minutes out of our day can be used to do something that will stimulate growth so don’t waste it.
